The Archibald Campbell Lodge,
No.4998 ( Chennai )

Date of Warrant: February 1, 1928.

Named after the then District Grand Master, RWBro. Archibald Young Gipps Campbell, the lodge was constituted & consecrated in 1928 by Rt. Hon. Lord Cornwallis, Deputy Grand Master, Grand Lodge of England. The idea was formed by 19 Indian and 11 European freemasons, who in true spirit of masonry wanted to promote better fraternal & friendly relations between them. RWBro. Archibald Campbell was known for practicing and preaching Brotherly Love, Relief & Truth over the differences of race, caste & creed, hence the reason the founding members felt it was befitting to name their new lodge after him. The founding master was Wbro GT Boag (fun fact: Boag Road in Chennai is named after him!)
